Menu Highlights

Heather tip

Cash-friendly, fast. Good palate-cleanser between fancier stops.

Why it’s on the list

A family-run Hell's Kitchen shop that's been on 9th Ave since the early '60s — three generations still work the counter. Crispy, light crust; generous cheese; the kind of slice that doesn't need to reinvent itself.

History

Sacco has been on 9th Avenue since the early 1960s; three generations of the family have worked the counter.

The cheese slice was $1.50 through the 2000s; it's $2.50 now — still one of the cheapest in Hell's Kitchen.

Did You Know?

The original ovens are still in use; the deck stones have been replaced twice since the '70s.

Exactly as a slice should be. Nothing more, nothing less. That's the point.
